Professor Hak-Joon Sung of TMD lab (Department of Medical Engineering, Yonsei University) was awarded the Basic Medicine Award at the 19th Pfizer Medical Awards. In order to solve problems such as blood flow disorders and damage to blood vessels that occur due to diameters different from those of existing blood vessels when artificial blood vessels are inserted, transplant tubes are developed using shape-memory polymer-based technology programmed to respond to temperature.

The Pfizer Medical Award is a medical award hosted by the National Academy of Medicine of the Republic of Korea and sponsored by Pfizer Korea. The winners are selected by evaluating the excellence, creativity, science, and contribution of papers published within the last two years.
